E-waste represents 2% of trash in American landfills, but it is 70% of overall toxic waste.
This problem is something most people don’t think about, much less talk about. Within any thrift store or junk shop, old dusty speakers and electronics can always be found lying around gathering dust. Often these forgotten items are with little hope of a new life, as many shops simply throw them away.
Rare Bird Stereos is a start to re-purposing electronic waste such as speakers. Hopefully, in the future, recycling stereos and speakers will be just one of many ways we can provide new life to still useful items from the abundant sources around us.
